The UK recently held the AI Safety Summit to consider the risks of AI, and to discuss how risks can be mitigated through internationally coordinated action. The Bletchley Declaration by Countries Attending the AI Safety Summit, notes that “actors developing frontier AI capabilities, in particular those AI systems which are unusually powerful and potentially harmful, have a particularly strong responsibility for ensuring the safety of these AI systems, including through systems for safety testing, through evaluations, and by other appropriate measures”.
In an era where AI has a significant presence across many aspects of our lives, TurinTech is dedicated to building AI products that are not only innovative but also founded on the principles of ethical practice and safety. In an effort, we reaffirm our commitment to the responsible development of AI, and have outlined our guiding principles in the development of AI.
Robustness is Our Cornerstone
At the core of our ethos is the belief that AI must be secure, reliable, and efficient. Our two key products, evoML and Artemis AI, are carefully crafted, maintained, and tested to ensure that they do what we think they are doing. Our software testing processes include meticulous evaluation to ensure that the systems are able to deal with the out of ordinary, ensuring that our products remain resilient and dependable in this ever-changing AI landscape.
Responsibility in Innovation
Accountability and answerability are ingrained in the TurinTech culture. We scrutinise our development decisions and document them in detail to ensure rigour and clarity in the decision-making process. Careful scrutiny enables us to ensure that the AI we create, as well as the decisions it facilitates, bear the mark of our dedication. We advocate for and embody responsible innovation, ensuring that every outcome of our AI is one we can uphold with pride.
Fairness and Impartiality
There is a pressing need for AI systems to be fair and free of bias, including biases that are present in the real world. Ensuring our AI systems are fair and free of bias is a primary objective at TurinTech. Our AI ethics and governance process includes continuous assessment of development methods and data, and rigorous bias mitigation frameworks. This enables us to ensure that AI tools we develop can be utilised for fear of unfair outputs and outcomes.
Transparency and Explainability
While it is essential for AI systems to be accurate and efficient, they also need to be transparent and explainable. On the one hand, we ensure that the decisions we make as an AI company are transparent. On the other hand, we take steps such as providing users of our products with the source code of the models developed with our platform, fostering a deeper understanding and greater trust in our technology. This open approach gives greater transparency to AI-based decisions and empowers users to confidently engage with our tools.
As TurinTech continues to lead and innovate in the field of AI, code optimisation, and machine learning, we will continuously visit and review our guiding principles to ensure we meet the best practices of the industry. We invite you to join us on this exciting journey as we create a future where AI is ethical, safe, and beneficial for all.
